With remnants of graduation festivities leftover on-campus, I and the rest of the CDI team leave you with one last blog for the summer. Check back with us in August for new blogs and a fresh take on career development topics from our 2012-2013 team!

For those of you who have just graduated, I’d like to share a few of the many resources the Career Center has to offer UGA Alumni. While you can find a complete list on our website (http://career.uga.edu/alumni/alumni), I will highlight some of my favorites:

Need to meet with a consultant to discuss new career moves? Interested in boosting your resume power? Schedule a meeting with a consultant at the Alumni Career Services office in Buckhead! These meetings can be tailored to fit your needs at the time. And if you happen to be in Athens, you can also meet with a consultant on-campus for two years after graduation.

All UGA students and alumni have life-time access to DawgLink! This means you can browse jobs and internships whenever you need to from wherever you are. While entry-level positions may seem more abundant than not, employers also post positions requiring some level of experience. I recommend always checking DawgLink before resorting to broader job posting sites as employers are truly seeking UGA grads through DawgLink.

Career Fairs

As an alum, you also hold a ticket to every UGA Career Fair. Yes, that means if you find yourself without a job this September you can come back to Athens and attend the fall fair! For future events though, I’d recommend checking out the Alumni Career Fair. Held every June, this fair hosts a variety of companies seeking employees who have had work experience outside of college. This is ideal for those looking for a career change or simply a new company to join!
