Ever wonder what a day is like in the professional work world? Want to learn more about a specific career from someone already in the industry?  Then come check out one of our Intern For A Day orientation sessions!

Intern For A Day is a job shadow opportunity that allows you to gain insight into a particular profession of your interest. Experiencing the daily activities of a job and networking with professionals are two of the many great benefits of the program.

Applying to the program:

To participate in the Intern For A Day program, you must attend an orientation session. Here are the dates, times and locations:

  • Thursday              September 29     4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.       MLC – Room 150
  • Monday               October 3            4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.       MLC – Room 150
  • Tuesday               October 4            4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.       MLC – Room 150

RSVP on the UGA Career Center Facebook page or email extern@uga.edu.

After attending the orientation session you need to fill out an application which can be found at the Career Center website, career.uga.edu. The application gives you the opportunity to explain your interest in the program as well as which organizations interest you.

After Acceptance:

If you are accepted, you will receive an email that contains contact information for the organization you will be interning with. You will need to contact the organization to set up all the details of your day with the organization.

Once you have the date and time set up, be sure to research the organization and come up with questions for the employers while you are there. This is a great way to show the employers your interest in the organization!

After the Job Shadow:

Be sure to send a thank you to the organization you visited! Mail a thank you card within a week of your shadow day.
